My name is James Aldham, the founder of Midnight Designer. This is now the third business that I have been involved in, hopefully it will be as successful as the previous two….Fingers crossed!
What’s the reason for the change from Printing?
After founding and running LA Digital Print & Mailing Ltd for 10 years, with my business partner, (and my Mother Linda, or Monica (from Friends) as i call her!), it was time for change. For number of reasons that seem to all coincide in a similar period of time. One of the main reasons was that Linda had some health problems and needed to retire, so it was kinda the perfect timing. She’s doing ok now in case you are wondering! So LA Digital Print was sold to our biggest customer at that time in 2019 and continue as they are today.
Time to get Creative!
So, after doing the same thing day in day out, with very long hours i might add, i felt it was the right time to have a break, recharge my batteries and take stock of my life. At the ripe old age of just over 42, perhaps i was having a midlife crisis? – Although anyone who knows the Print trade will tell you its one big crisis every day, so it couldn’t possibly be that!
With my background in Print, Design, Print Finishing and Direct Mail, i was often the goto person for all the weird and wonderful jobs, that many Designers and Marketeers would come up with! – It was my job to price it up and work out how its going to be produced. It was so much fun getting creative and making mock ups Blue Peter style! – This was an area i have always loved doing have a passion for. Ive always been a creative and technical person from an early age, and after careful consideration on what to do next, there is was; Midnight Designer was born.
With the skillset and experience i have gained in my career i think this move is perfect for me. After a Website building course last year, at The Arts University Bournemouth, I am now ready to go with this next challenge!
